SALES REPRESENTATIVE
FloChem™ Ltd. is an “Intermediate Bulk Distributor” of liquid chemicals providing “Total Chemical Management” programs to its customers.
Job Description
Department: Sales – Reporting to Sales and Marketing Manager
General Purpose: Primary responsibility will be the growth of new business and new products through the sale of “Total Chemical Management” programs to new and existing customers using the “Value Added Approach”. The VAP could include the installation of bulk chemical distribution and management systems. 70% of the SR’s time will be spent in this area.
Secondary responsibility will include the management, profitability enhancement, sales growth through broadening the product mix and retention of existing customers that are assigned to you from time to time. 30% of the SR’s time will be spent in this area.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and manage a Sales Plan for the assigned Geographic Territory or Vertical Market which will be reviewed monthly
- Develop relationships and build rapport with existing customers and potential new customers
- Develop and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned Geographic Territory or Vertical Market as established from time to time by the Sales and Marketing Manager
- Special projects as assigned from time to time by the Sales and Marketing Manager
- Maintain and Update the Sales Report using Act! on an ongoing basis.
- Prepare a rolling twelve-month Territory Expense Budget to be updated and reviewed quarterly to actual expenses
- Maintain a schedule-using Act!
- Maintain constant contact with head office staff to resolve problems and exchange information
- Check and respond to voice mail and email several times per day
- Keep in contact with the Sales and Marketing Manager on a timely basis
The Sales Report should include:
- Competitive activity including pricing, new products etc.
- Update “Sales Opportunities” within Act!
- Submit Mileage Reporting Form for approval and payment
- Submit Expense Form for approval and payment
Authority:
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with new and existing customers within authorized limits – authorized limits to be established
- Utilize “Promotional Budget” on a “Responsible and Necessary” basis within approved budget limits
- Resolve customer’s complaints and problems using “Best Case Business Decisions”
Job Requirements
Education: University Degree or College Diploma in a business or technical area
Equipment Used: Personal vehicle, phone, fax, PDA, laptop computer, printer, Blackberry
Computer Software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Express, Act! and Windows xp
Established Contacts: General Industry, Food Processors, Water Treatment, Pulp & Paper, and Contract Packagers
Working Conditions: Head office based, some overnight travel
Supervision: Minimal
Experience Required: Minimum five years industry related outside sales experience
Job Knowledge Required: Procedures and Practices: Sales and Marketing techniques, Flochem™ Ltd. product line, competitor’s product lines, competitor’s strengths and weaknesses, knowledge of vertical markets by Flochem™ product, Flochem™ procedures vis a vis use of CACD forms and the use of a computer and the required software.
